What is the Glen Cove Catholic Newsletter?
This is an email newsletter intended for anyone who would like to stay up-to-date on the Catholic community in Glen Cove, specifically at All Saints Regional Catholic School and the parishes of St. Rocco and St. Patrick. The aim is to publish this newsletter every week, and to include information on events both here and in the diocese, important notices, and interesting occurrences affecting the wider Catholic Church.

Saturday, November 18th: Father Daniel’s Installation Ceremony, @4:00pm in the Church of Saint Rocco. Join us this evening to ceremoniously welcome Father Daniel as the new pastor of the Church of Saint Rocco. A fitting celebration will take place in the previously-scheduled Western Hoedown event (see below).
Saturday, November 18th: Western Hoedown Dinner Dance
Dust off your boots and mosey on over for an old fashioned Western Hoedown! Lots of fun to be had by all! Dress your Western Finest! The Hoedown will begin at 6 o'clock in the evening in the Madonna Room at the Church of Saint Rocco. Please purchase your tickets in advance from a committee member or at the parish office.
Thursday, November 23: Thanksgiving Day Celebration
St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus invite you to share a lunch with your brothers and sisters this Thanksgiving from 12:00pm-3:30pm. We give thanks to God for all that we have and for His many blessings! All are welcome and admission is free. Volunteers are needed to set up the day before, Wednesday, November 22nd, from 6:30-8:30pm and on Thanksgiving beginning at 11am.
Friday, December 1st: Blessing of the Creche and an Evening with Santa, All Saints Regional Catholic School would like to invite you to this Christmas event! The Evening with Santa will be held from 6-10pm in the Parish Hall at Saint Patrick’s in Glen Cove. The Blessing of the Creche will be at 7:30pm outside where the creche will be displayed on the corner of the hill by Glen Street and Pearsall. We hope you can join us!
Saturday, December 2nd: Food Truck Festival & Christmas Boutique Extravaganza, The home of the St. Rocco's Feast is launching an annual Christmas event! The day begins at 11am with Food Trucks outside and a Christmas Boutique in the Madonna Room. There will be a tree lighting at 5:30pm complete with Christmas carols! Save the date and bring the whole family!
Sunday, December 10th: 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Church of Saint Rocco
The Church of Saint Rocco cordially invites you - parishioners, former parishioners, volunteers, family, and friends - to our 80th Anniversary Celebration! The first Mass to be celebrated at the Church of Saint Rocco was the Christmas Midnight Mass in 1937. Eighty years later, and our parish is still bringing people to encounter Christ - in the sacraments and through the community life of our parishioners. We hope you can join us for this evening which will include a cocktails, a 4-course meal, and dancing! Tickets are $85 for adults and $35 for children ages 7-14 (younger children may come too!) and may be purchased at the parish office. The celebration will take place from 1-6pm at Chateau Briand.
Every Monday at 7:30pm: Charismatic Prayer Group, Join us for a wonderful evening of prayer and fellowship. Please contact the St Patrick's parish office for more information on where the group will meet.
Every Tuesday at 7:30pm: Bible Study - the Gospel of Saint Matthew, The Gospel of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and also the most quoted Gospel in noncanonical literature of early Christianity. You can experience the beauty of this revelation by delving into this text with other Christians under the instruction of the Canons of St. Patrick's and St. Rocco's. All are welcome! We meet in the parish center at Saint Rocco's, in the second-to-last classroom.
Every Wednesday at 9:45am: Brewed Theology, This group meets Wednesday mornings to discuss varied topics relevant to the Church in the present day. You can expect lively conversations, intellectual insights, a place to form friendships, and as the name suggests... some freshly brewed coffee! We meet in the Msgr Healey room in the convent building at Saint Patrick's, follow signs for the adoration chapel or the parish offices and you'll find us.
Every Saturday at 9:30am: Centering Prayer, Are you looking to strengthen your personal relationship with God? If so, Centering Prayer, a method of silent prayer, might be what you are looking for. Please join us Saturday morning in the convent building at Saint Patrick's. We meet in the St. Teresa of Avila room on the 2nd floor.
Weekdays: Adoration Chapel, The adoration chapel at Saint Patrick's is open Monday through Friday during parish office hours (the Blessed Sacrament may not be exposed at all times, only when a registered adorer is present). After-hours adoration is open to registered adorers during their scheduled times.
