What's Happening in Glen Cove

50th Anniversary of Humanae Vitae

Fifty years ago, on July 25, 1968, Pope Paul VI issued an Encyclical Letter entitled Humanae Vitae, “On Human Life”. On October 14, 2018, Pope Francis will canonize his predecessor as Pope Saint Paul VI.

In this anniversary year, Bishop John O. Barres of the Diocese of Rockville Centre has issued a Pastoral Letter entitled The Supreme Gift: The Gift of Life, commemorating the encyclical of this soon-to-be-canonized saint. This teaching of the late Holy Father is in many ways more important today than at any time before.

In his letter, Bishop Barres wants to teach the people of the diocese the important truths of Humanae Vitae, because these truths very much need to be reexamined today in light of the problems we face in our time.

Recurring Events

Every Monday at 7:30pm: Charismatic Prayer Group, Join us for a wonderful evening of prayer and fellowship. Please contact the St Patrick's parish office for more information on where the group will meet.

Every Tuesday at 7:30pm: Bible Study - the Gospel of Saint Matthew, The Gospel of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and also the most quoted Gospel in noncanonical literature of early Christianity. You can experience the beauty of this revelation by delving into this text with other Christians under the instruction of the Canons of St. Patrick's and St. Rocco's. All are welcome! We meet in the parish center at Saint Rocco's, in the second-to-last classroom.

Every Wednesday at 9:45am: Brewed Theology, This group meets Wednesday mornings to discuss varied topics relevant to the Church in the present day. You can expect lively conversations, intellectual insights, a place to form friendships, and as the name suggests... some freshly brewed coffee! We meet in the Msgr Healey room in the convent building at Saint Patrick's, follow signs for the adoration chapel or the parish offices and you'll find us.

Every Saturday at 9:30am: Centering Prayer, Are you looking to strengthen your personal relationship with God? If so, Centering Prayer, a method of silent prayer, might be what you are looking for. Please join us Saturday morning in the convent building at Saint Patrick's. We meet in the St. Teresa of Avila room on the 2nd floor.

Weekdays: Adoration Chapel, The adoration chapel at Saint Patrick's is open Monday through Friday during parish office hours (the Blessed Sacrament may not be exposed at all times, only when a registered adorer is present). After-hours adoration is open to registered adorers during their scheduled times. If you would like to be a registered adorer or would like more information, please contact the parish office at 516-676-0276.
