Glen Cove Catholic

 Welcome to Glen Cove Catholic

UPDATE:  On Tuesday, Fr Daniel received the results of a Covid-19 test taken last week after initially feeling ill on May 20th.  It was positive.  He is feeling fine.

Since we live in the same household, we want to follow the quarantine directives of being extra-cautious for 14 days since there is a likelihood that we have all been exposed.  To date, none of us have experienced any typical symptoms.

While there would be no interaction at Mass, out of an abundance of caution we are DELAYING the resuming of daily Mass in the Churches until JUNE 8th.  We are sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment, but hope you all understand.

The 8:30 AM daily Mass live-stream schedule will continue until then.

Tentative Weekday Mass Schedule

Effective June 8th

We are happy to begin again, although in a limited fashion, weekday Mass in the churches with the below schedule and precautions/limitations.

7:30 AM         St Rocco (Mon-Fri)

9:00 AM         St Patrick (Mon-Sat) Live-streamed

Important Notes:

  • Only 10 people are allowed in the church at one time. Since this is a small number and to give as many people the possibility of attending…
  • Those who are most vulnerable (older and/or ill) should remain at home.
  • Masks must be worn while in the church.
  • Social Distancing (6ft between individuals not from the same household) must be kept. The pews will be marked off with blue masking tape.
  • Communion will not be distributed.

Diocesan Directives – Effective May 21, 2020

  1. Please remember that the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains in effect. The sick and vulnerable should also remain at home until further notice.
  1. Funerals, Weddings and Baptisms (with no more than 10 people in attendance, including the celebrant) may resume. Masks or cloth facial coverings are required for anyone over the age of 2 years.   People with serious health conditions that prevent them from wearing masks are not required to do so.
  1. Daily/Weekend Mass: Due to the current attendance restrictions, we will not schedule any Masses for the time being and will continue to live-stream them via
  1. Holy Communion: Until further notice, Holy Communion will not be distributed at any liturgies. Only priests and deacons only will receive if a Mass is celebrated.  The priest, as always, receives on behalf of all the faithful whether they can do so or not, either due to un-confessed sins, unpreparedness, or precautionary measures during epidemics.  Please remember that there is still a great deal of merit in making a Spiritual Communion.  The Act of Spiritual Communion may be recited communally before Mass or following the Post-Communion Prayer.
  1. Confessions may again be scheduled. The schedule for this is below.   Please remember that we will limit the number of people in the church/parish hall to 10 at any given time.  To ensure that as many people can go as possible, one should not remain any longer than necessary after the confession to make one’s penance and pray.  Some additional points to note:
    • Masks/facial coverings should be worn at all times.
    • As confessions will likely be heard outside of confessionals
      • The penitent should speak in as quiet a voice as possible, and
      • Those waiting should be far enough away that they cannot overhear confessions.

FIRST COMMUNIONSWe currently still do not have clarity on when Masses will publicly resume and with what restrictions when they do.  Until that happens, we do not have an update on when First Communions will be rescheduled.  We will update this site and have Bernadette Heym contact everyone when we have more clarity.
