(Versión en español)

Effective Immediately

We are happy to resume both weekday and weekend Masses schedule and the following precautions/limitations.

  • The churches are limited to 50% capacity.  Considering our normal daily Mass attendance, there will effectively be no restrictions other than…
  • Those who are ill or experiencing active coughing are asked to remain home.
  • Social Distancing (6ft between individuals not from the same household) must be maintained. The pews will be marked off with blue masking tape indicating areas where one may not sit.
  • Masks/facial coverings should be worn while in the church except for those who…
    • Are under 2-years-old
    • Have difficulty breathing through a mask

Reception of Holy Communion

a/o June 13th

  • Holy Communion will be distributed AFTER Mass concludes.
  • 6-foot separation should be maintained between those waiting to receive.
  • The Eucharist may be received either…
    • On the tongue (naturally, mask must be taken off just prior to reception), or
    • In the hand (gloves may not be worn out of respect for the Eucharist).
  • Please remain still during reception, allowing the minister to give the Eucharist while minimizing the chance of physical contact.
  • If physical contact is made, the minister will quickly sanitize his hands.

Message on Covid-19 Risk & Church Sanitation

With great joy about but also with caution in regard to the resumption of the public celebration of Mass, we want to be clear about the great care we are taking for everyone’s health.

First, since the Bishop has dispensed everyone from the obligation to attend Mass (Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation) and this Dispensation remains in effect, no one is required to attend Mass.  Therefore, if you have any underlying health problems or need to be especially careful to safeguard yourself or members of your household from infection, please use your best judgment to determine whether now is the right to time to return to Mass.  Even with the best precautions, we cannot mitigate all risk.

The CDC’s current guidelines state that an infected person’s coughing or breathing is the primary mode of transmission for Covid-19.  Therefore, the Diocese stipulates that worshipers at Mass must first observe the 6-feet ‘social distancing’ rule (excluding for members of the same household, who may sit together) and also wear masks (except for children under two years of age or those persons for may have difficulty breathing through a mask).

While one can contract the virus by touching infected surfaces and then touching one’s face, thankfully the CDC also reports that this is much less likely, especially when we remember to wash hands and avoid touching our faces until we have done so.

With this in mind, both St Patrick and St Rocco will try our best to enact the cleaning protocols of the diocese, which include the cleaning of pews/seats and commonly touched surfaces each day and, if possible, cleaning in between Masses.  That being said, this should be no substitute for your personal diligence.  Please avoid unnecessary touching of surfaces, bring your own hand sanitizer and/or wipes, and help us keep our churches safe.

FIRST COMMUNIONSMake-up dates for First Communion have not yet been scheduled.  Given the current restrictions and the summer months, both St Patrick and St Rocco will likely look for a date after Labor Day.  We will update this site and have Bernadette Heym contact everyone when we have more clarity.
